Feather Creek Acres is a small hobby farm in beautiful historic Almonte. We started up with chickens in 2016, and added ducks and geese in 2017. We appreciate heritage breeds and try to help conserve some of the endangered breeds. We are not a business and aren’t concerned about high production numbers in the shortest time possible. Our birds mature slowly, but live much longer than the hybrid production birds often sold at feed stores. We primarily sell small orders to backyard hobbyists, and occasionally 4h kids and to those that enjoy showing. We offer eating eggs (chicken, duck, goose), hatching eggs, chicks, ducklings, goslings and occasional grow outs and adult birds.
We always ask to make an appointment in advance, unfortunately we don’t appreciate drop bys. We try to implement biosecurity measures as best as we can, therefore we don’t offer farm tours, and we often ask fellow poultry keepers to park at the gate.
Everything is limited availability and nature can fluctuate when we least expect it. We appreciate long term, understanding buyers 😊
We welcome “newbies/rookies”, and we enjoy offering guidance, tips and tricks to raising poultry.
We offer free hatching eggs to schools, daycares and 4h, as long as we get the hatchlings back (unless the 4h member is able to raise 1 or 2 as their project).
Unfortunately we are unable to take back unwanted/unexpected cockerels/cocks due to biosecurity reasons.
